The Liverpool City Region Destination Welcome Training Programme is a free, fully funded, one-day course designed to help businesses deliver exceptional visitor experiences.
Endorsed by OCN London, the programme equips frontline staff and supervisors with the skills, confidence, and local knowledge needed to provide a warm, professional, and inclusive welcome to every visitor.
Whether you work in hospitality, retail, transport, culture, or events this training supports you in enhancing every visitor interaction. Every interaction plays a role in shaping the reputation of Liverpool City Region as a world-class destination.
Overview
The programme is part of the wider Destination Welcome workstream, developed in partnership with Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership.
It focuses on:
- Raising service standards across the visitor economy
- Preparing teams for major events and increased visitor demand
- Building destination pride and local advocacy
- Supporting inclusive, accessible and sustainable visitor experiences
Participants gain practical skills, confidence and a recognised accreditation that supports both personal and organisational development.
What It Is And Who It Is For
There are two training programmes on offer – the Visitor Welcome Ambassador Programme and the Visitor Welcome Supervisor Programme.
Both programmes are suitable for organisations across the visitor economy, including:
- Hospitality and hotel teams
- Retail and customer service staff
- Transport and travel personnel
- Tourism and cultural venues
- Event and attraction staff
- Supervisors, team leaders and aspiring managers
- Volunteers and community ambassadors

Training Format
- Duration: 1 full day
- Group size: Maximum 16 participants per session
