Liverpool has once again been recognised by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) with Coach Friendly Status, highlighting the city’s outstanding facilities for coach travel.
The accreditation celebrates Liverpool’s provision of dedicated parking, convenient drop-off points, and clear driver information, making it the largest UK city to hold this distinction.
The awarding body, CPT is the UK’s leading trade association for the bus and coach industry, representing operators and championing the role of passenger transport in supporting tourism, communities, and sustainable travel.
The award reinforces Liverpool’s reputation as a leading destination for group travel, coming as the city is also shortlisted for Best UK Destination in the Group Leisure & Travel Awards 2025.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, said:
“Coaches bring thousands of people to our attractions every year, supporting local businesses and enriching our visitor economy. This recognition is more than a badge of honour, it reflects Liverpool’s commitment to welcoming visitors at scale, sustainably and with care. Being the biggest UK city and the only northern city with this accreditation shows that Liverpool is not only open for tourism but leading the way in how cities can embrace group travel.”
Graham Vidler, Chief Executive of CPT, said:
“Liverpool is our only northern city with coach friendly status. This is a testament to the hard work that goes into creating a welcoming environment for coach groups, boosting tourism to the area – we look forward to other northern cities joining the coach friendly cohort!”
