Three summer events will return to Liverpool city centre this August to showcase the best of the city’s culture.
Celebrating Castle Street, Celebrating Bold Street and The Last Day of Summer on the waterfront will welcome street entertainment, artists, food, drink, music and more across three days.
Celebrating Castle Street will take place from 11am – 5pm on Sunday 3rd August. Giant chess boards will tie in with the British Chess Championships and will encourage people to try the ultimate game of strategy in the Town Hall. With face painting and stilt walking, there will be three live music spots in the area, offers from local food and drink venues, a showcase from Batala Mersey and Silent Disco Tours all day. A market will be held in Exchange Flags from Liverpool Markets with workshops too.
Celebrating Bold Street will be on Sunday 17 August from 11am – 5pm. A giant tortoise puppet will provide entertainment alongside stilt walkers, face painting and a tie-dye sock workshop. Music points will focus at the top end of the street with the Albert Schloss brass band back for special performances. The Bombed Out Church will be hosting a Makers Market with special Celebrating Bold Street offers along with sampling along the street from local businesses, DJ’s, workshops and more.
The Last Day of Summer will be on Saturday 30th August from 11am – 5pm in association with Royal Albert Dock. The family-friendly, health and wellness celebration will include Yoga and Pilates free classes with a sound bath at Princes Dock. There will also be WeSwimRun sessions and Wyld Sauna sessions. Live music will be at Pier Head with circus skills workshops, canoe taster sessions from Canal and River Trust and bike rentals and workshops from Hype. At Royal Albert Dock, special workshops for those heading back to school including a pencil case workshop, a dance courtyard at the Anchor Courtyard, Sama Livre demo, Merseyswing classes, Bubbleologist, 9 hole crazy golf course and old fair games such as a coconut shy. Sea creature and tie dye sock workshops will take place along with Street animation will come from walkabout octopuses and Elton John, including piano. An artisan market and live music will be at Mann island.
