New Pop-Up Venue Set to Transform Southport’s Historic Wayfarers Arcade

An exciting new establishment has opened its doors at Southport’s iconic Wayfarers Arcade, with the launch of The Junction, a new pop-up venue, located on the ground floor in the former Multiyork unit.

The Junction will offer a laid-back space for visitors to gather, enjoy locally sourced food and drinks, and take in the ambience of this historic setting.

The launch of The Junction aligns with extended opening hours for Wayfarers Arcade, with its Lord Street entrance remaining open until 8pm on selected days—a significant move towards revitalising the venue’s evening appeal. The announcement also comes as Wayfarers Arcade celebrates recent accolades, with The Engine Room securing the Innovation Award and LM Beauty taking home the Beauty Business of the Year Award at the Southport BID Your Southport Stars Awards.

Dr Eric Lybeck, from Wayfarers Arcade, expressed enthusiasm for the new venture:

“The Junction is going to be a laid-back spot for you to meet with friends, enjoy a drink and some nibbles as well as delicious ice creams. Seating will flow out into the arcade itself, so you will be able to enjoy the warmer evenings under the incredible glass canopy.”

A curated menu will highlight locally sourced products, including Persian cakes from Nooshe Bakery in Manchester, beer from Neptune Brewery in Bootle, coffee from 92 Degrees, and baked goods from Lagom Bakery. Visitors can expect a unique tapas offering from Pudding & Pie, alongside dishes such as Raclette, avocado and kimchi toast, Ploughman’s lunch, and a trio of salads.

Interior designer Claire Mills, owner of Mills Interiors in Wayfarers Arcade, has been instrumental in shaping the venue’s aesthetic, drawing from botanical influences, heritage elements, and a strong sense of community.

“I saw an opportunity to enlist the talented artists we have based in Wayfarers Arcade, and this unit will showcase their work as part of the arcade community. There will also be a snug area, a high tea section for events, and a dedicated performance space.”

The Junction’s opening hours will be 12pm–8pm from Thursday to Saturday, with the Engine Room Speakeasy accessible until 10pm via Wayfarers Arcade’s West Street entrance.
