Club Liverpool, the influential ambassador network dedicated to bringing world-class conferences and events to the Liverpool City Region, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, having generated over £100 million for the Liverpool City Region economy.
Since its inception a decade ago, the initiative, a partnership between the Liverpool Convention Bureau and ACC Liverpool, has successfully attracted more than 100 prestigious conferences and events, bringing 56,000 delegates to the region and showcasing Liverpool’s strengths on a global stage.
Club Liverpool’s powerful network consists of professionals, academics, and medical experts who serve as ambassadors, leveraging their influence within their respective fields to bring colleagues and peers to the city they love. These ambassadors represent key sectors including Health and Life Sciences, Digital and Creative, Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Growth, Built Environment, and Professional and Business Services.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Richard Kemp CBE, said:
“The 10th Anniversary is all about recognising the extremely important role our Club Liverpool ambassadors play in Liverpool’s economy. The work of an ambassador often happens behind the scenes, but the city is well aware and extremely grateful for the dedication and the enormous benefits they bring.
“Attracting high-profile, internationally significant conferences to Liverpool is crucial in so many ways. There are, of course, the immediate benefits for the local economy – particularly for our hospitality industry. Much more than this though, from a reputational perspective, these events provide an important opportunity to shine a light on the fantastic, life-changing work that takes place here whilst also showcasing our vibrant, welcoming city region.”
“When events come to Liverpool, the entire city benefits – from hotels and retail to hospitality and taxi drivers,” said Howard Lewis, Chair of Club Liverpool. “It’s rewarding to know that Liverpool’s reputation as an exceptional place to do business is being talked about worldwide as a result of hard work and collaboration.
“Club Liverpool brings together a remarkably diverse network of ambassadors from across various sectors, all united by a shared vision and purpose.”
When an ambassador identifies a potential event, the Club Liverpool team provides comprehensive support, from submitting expressions of interest and preparing bid documents to coordinating site visits, finding suitable venues and suppliers and providing an accommodation booking service. These dedicated support services are offered completely free of charge through the Liverpool Convention Bureau.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director, Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, commented:
“In drawing global recognition, conferences provide a platform from which to shout about our strengths, and they ultimately have the potential to support trade growth, attract talent, and encourage investment. The impact of the work over these ten years cannot be overstated. We look forward to the next ten years of continuing to position Liverpool as a world-class destination for business and academia.”
Club Liverpool membership includes ongoing support, keeping ambassadors connected to the initiative’s success and the city’s growth as a premier destination for international events.
Events brought to the city by the ambassadors during 2024-2025 include the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology Annual Meeting, The 12th International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics, European Low Gravity Research Association Biennial Symposium & General Assembly, European College of Equine Internal Medicine Congress, International Beam Instrumentation Conference and the 10th World Congress of the International Academy of Oral Oncology.
