easyJet announces two new routes from LJLA to Girona and Murcia
New routes and additional aircraft from Ryanair and easyJet strengthen Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s European network
The Liverpool City Region is set to benefit from a significant boost in air connectivity, with Ryanair and easyJet announcing a combined eight new routes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, alongside further investment in aircraft and capacity.
Ryanair has announced a sixth aircraft based at Liverpool for Winter 2026. Representing a £450m investment, the operator is adding six new routes to Milan Bergamo, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Porto, Tirana and Warsaw, as well as increased frequencies to Krakow, Kaunas and Cork. These cities are key markets that the Liverpool tourism industry has worked hard to attract and there is an expectation that Ryanair’s Liverpool operation will carry more than 2.6 million passengers a year.
Meanwhile, easyJet has announced two new routes for Summer 2027, with Girona and Murcia in Spain joining its Liverpool network. The Girona service will be particularly significant as it will be the first time easyJet has operated a route to Girona from the UK.
The announcements follow easyJet’s arrival of a ninth Liverpool-based aircraft in August and the launch of new services to Seville and Naples, as well as new winter connections to Reykjavik and Kittilä.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, said:
“This is excellent news for the Liverpool City Region and for our visitor economy. Continued investment by both Ryanair and easyJet is opening up more direct connections with destinations across Europe and making it easier for more people to discover Liverpool and the wider city region.
“We look forward to working with our airline and airport partners to make the most of this increased connectivity and encourage more visitors to come to Liverpool, stay longer and explore more of what the city region has to offer. This investment really is a fantastic opportunity for the region.”
