Liverpool has officially retained its Purple Flag status for the 15th year in a row—recognising the city as one of the safest and most vibrant nightlife destinations in the UK. But what does that actually mean for a night out in Liverpool?

In a new film, Managing Director of The Guide Liverpool, Jay Hynd meets John Hughes from Liverpool Nightlife CIC to explore the initiatives, partnerships, and people working behind the scenes to keep residents and visitors safe while enjoying the city after dark.

The Purple Flag is awarded by the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) to places with a thriving, well-managed, and safe night-time economy—similar to a Green Flag for parks or a Blue Flag for beaches. Liverpool has proudly maintained this status since 2010, making it one of only a handful of UK cities to hold the accreditation for 15 consecutive years.

From dedicated nightlife safety initiatives to a diverse mix of entertainment, dining, and culture, Liverpool continues to set the standard for what a world-class night out should look like.

Watch the film to see how Liverpool is leading the way in night-time safety.
