LJLA tops airport ‘on time’ league table as it gears up for the Easter getaway

Latest figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority show that in 2025 Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) had the best on time performance record of any UK airport, with 81% of flights operating within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time.

The 2025 figure is a 5% improvement upon its 2024 performance and 8% higher than the UK airport’s average.

This latest news comes as the airport prepares for the busiest weekend of the year so far, as passengers take advantage of the first Bank Holiday weekend of 2026 and the start of this year’s ‘Easter getaway’, which also coincides with the start of the 2026 summer season.

Over 70,000 passengers are expected to pass through the Airport over the long Bank Holiday weekend as travelers from across the region jet off to a host of destinations from Liverpool.

Travelers from across the North West and North Wales will be taking advantage of the Airport’s faster, easier and friendlier passenger experience with more flights and choice of destinations from Liverpool.

With the weather at home continuing to disappoint, many are heading off in search of some much needed Mediterranean sunshine and for city breaks. Flights to Dublin, Alicante, Belfast, Malaga, Palma, Tenerife, Faro, Krakow, Arrecife, and Barcelona are expected to be the top 10 busiest from Liverpool this Easter.

As ever with this being a particularly busy period for the airport, passengers are advised to arrive in plenty of time ahead of their departure, whilst a number of road works in the area may also impact on travel times to the airport too.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented,

“Liverpool is renowned as the region’s faster, easier, friendlier airport and its now official – we’re the UK’s most on time airport too, which is another reason why millions of passengers from across the region now make Liverpool their airport of choice.

As we move to our busier summer season, we look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers through the airport this Bank Holiday weekend, and in the coming weeks and months ahead.”
