Rugby League Commercial has officially confirmed the long-awaited return of the Rugby League Ashes this autumn after a 22-year absence. England will take on the Kangaroos in a thrilling three-Test series, with one of the biggest matches set to take place at the brand-new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
The ABK Beer Ashes Series will kick off on three consecutive Saturday afternoons – October 25, November 1, and November 8 – each starting at 2:30 pm (GMT) and broadcast live on BBC One. The series will be played at three historic and dynamic venues: Wembley Stadium, AMT Headingley in Leeds, and Everton Stadium, which will welcome Rugby League to its state-of-the-art home for the first time.
With huge demand expected, fans are urged to pre-register before 23:59 pm on Tuesday, April 1, for early access to the best-priced tickets through a priority window opening on Wednesday, April 2, at 12 pm—before general sale begins on April 14. England’s most loyal supporters will have the first opportunity to secure their tickets in a 48-hour priority window starting Monday, March 31. Anyone who has purchased a ticket for an England international in the last decade, including the Rugby League World Cup 2022, will have exclusive early access.
Rhodri Jones, Rugby League Commercial Managing Director, said:
“This is the news we’ve all been waiting for—everyone in the England set-up, and tens of thousands of England Rugby League fans. We welcome back Mal Meninga and the Kangaroos for an Ashes series, and we have three fantastic venues to showcase the very best of International Rugby League.
“The inclusion of Everton Stadium for the first time is a landmark moment, bringing Rugby League to a world-class new home on Liverpool’s waterfront. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the city’s passion for sport and showcase a cutting-edge venue that will soon become a major destination for international events.”
A Historic Moment for Liverpool City Region
The Everton Stadium fixture is set to be a highlight of the series, marking the first time an Ashes Test will be played at the venue. Located on the banks of the River Mersey, Everton Stadium will become Everton Football Club’s new home this summer. The 52,888-capacity stadium is one of the UK’s most advanced sporting venues, designed to host major global events, including EURO 2028.
Liverpool has a rich sporting history, and its links to Rugby League date back more than a century. The 2025 Ashes Test will be a new chapter in that legacy, bringing one of the sport’s greatest rivalries to the city for a spectacle that fans won’t want to miss.
Everton Stadium’s role in the series also highlights its position as one of the most accessible and sustainable stadiums in the country. Featuring cutting-edge environmental measures and a design that ensures an unparalleled spectator experience, the venue is set to provide a thrilling backdrop for one of Rugby League’s biggest international contests.
ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys AM said:
“We are proud to revive one of the great Rugby League traditions with the first Ashes series and Kangaroo Tour of England in 22 years. The inclusion of a brand-new stadium in Liverpool, alongside the historic venues of Wembley and Headingley, will make this a truly special occasion for players and fans alike.”
