Liverpool City Council have an exciting vacancy for an International Bidding Manager at Marketing Liverpool.
The role will be responsible for researching and identifying international conferences as part of the SIF Growing Business Events Project. The successful candidate will also lead the production of high-quality, compelling bids to win new business events for Liverpool City Region.
This is an opportunity to join the high-performing Liverpool Convention Bureau (LCB) team at Marketing Liverpool. LCB is responsible for promoting Liverpool City Region to conference and event organisers nationally and internationally as well as supporting conferences and events when they are taking place in the region.
LCB is an award-winning organisation having obtained a silver award at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards in 2021, 2022 and 2023 in the category of Best UK Convention Bureau. Most recently Liverpool has been recognised as the Most Improved Destination at the GDS Awards for the GDS-Index score.

Key Responsibilities:
- To undertake research into international conferences to identify those which could take place in Liverpool City Region to achieve targets as set out by the SIF Growing Business Events Project.
- To maintain a database and pipeline of potential conferences for Liverpool City Region.
- Manage the bidding process to host international conferences. This includes developing a procedure for co-ordinating all the stakeholders involved to ensure deadlines are met.
- Design and create powerful bid documents to give Liverpool City Region the best possible opportunity to secure new business.
- Obtain quotes and proposals from venues, hotels and suppliers to include in bid documents.
- Liaise with Visit Britain where appropriate to obtain financial support or advocacy for bids.
- Work alongside the Club Liverpool Programme Manager to help identify suitable ambassadors to support international conference bids.
- Organise site inspections and accompany organisers on their visits during the bid process.
- To provide monthly reports into the SIF working group to monitor progress of research and bids. This includes information on the current database / pipeline position, value of conferences won/lost and calculation of the economic impact.
- Attend relevant conferences or industry trade shows or networking events to acquire new business leads for bids.
